Lt. General Chesty Puller, Jackson & Lee

Lt. General Chesty Puller visiting Lee Chapel

Yesterday was Lewis Burwell "Chesty" Puller's birthday. Puller was a USMC Lt. General and considered one of the best and bravest marines in USMC history. He was also a Virginian, born in West Point, Virginia. During his legendary career, he was awarded five Navy Crosses and one U.S. Army Distinguished Service Cross making him the most decorated Marine in the history of the Corps.

The Puller documentary below, "Chesty: A Tribute to a Legend", was produced by John Ford with an introduction by John Wayne. At about 20:07 in the video, you'll see Puller visiting Stonewall Jackson's grave and Lee Chapel in Lexington, VA where General Lee is entombed. Wayne notes that Lee was Puller's boyhood hero and "recalls how studies of this man's military genius helped him win his own battles so many years later."
